Sunday Prayer 14

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you. (Psalm 5:11)

I awaken this morning
and take refuge in You, my Lord.
No other person or place can shelter me
like You can, my God.

Under the Cross of Christ my Savior
I find rest for my soul, now and forever;
in Jesus is my true Shalom.

Come, cover me in Your life and love
even as I lift my eyes and voice to You.
Come, guide me in Your everlasting ways
through thee jungle-like pathways of this life.
Come, restore me to true life and human personality
in this world of death and dehumanization.

You are my song,
my joy,
my hope,
my God.

Sunday Prayer 13

But God is my King from long ago;
he brings salvation on the earth.
(Psalm 74:12)

Age to age, You are God,
the One who reigns over all the earth.
Salvation is found in no one else
and comes from no other source.
We praise Your name
with our words and songs;
We exalt Your name
with our deeds and lives.
As we gather together before You
may You receive the glory You are due
and change us to look more like You.
May our lives become living sacrifices of praise
to You, our Lord and King,
that the nations might see and know
You are God.

Sunday Prayer 12

Your name, Lord, endures forever,
Your renown, Lord, through all generations. (Psalm 135:13)

You are the most famous One, God,
and no other can compare to You.
All around the world people call on Your name,
and voices from many languages praise You.
We choose to take our place in that great chorus;
we choose to praise You today, O Lord,
for You are great and glorious.
May You be praised in us, O Lord;
in the words we speak today,
in the thoughts we think today,
and in the deeds we do today.
All we are for all You are –
today and every day, our great God!

Sunday Prayer 11

The righteous will rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in him;
all the upright in heart will glory in him! (Psalm 64:10)

Starting this day lifting my head to You,
my refuge and strength.

In the weariness of my body –
the drooping eyes, tight muscles,
heavy mind, murky heart –
I still drag myself here to hear Your voice
and behold Your glory.

“In quietness and rest will be your salvation”
so I come in quiet and stillness
to find rest in You.

You are my God,
and there is no other.

Sunday Prayer 10

This good day is a gift from You,
and we receive it as the gift it is.

Father eternal,
Jesus the Son,
Life-giving Spirit –
there is none like You.

We praise You, Lord,
and remember all Your goodness:
You heal our diseases,
You save us from sin,
You renew our strength so that we rise up like the morning’s dawn.

May our mouths bring You praise
as the fitting overflow of lives offered as sacrifices for You.

Glory to Your Name!
