We finished up The Ave downtown last night, bringing a close to our series on Ecclesiastes. I was speaking from Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8, but mainly on chapter 12, verse 1:
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth.
Reflecting on the life of Brad Larson and the testimonies I heard from family and friends at his funeral, I have been moved to think through this verse for myself.
There are a few key questions on my mind with it:
- Does my life reflect the fact that I am remembering my Creator in the days of my youth? Why or why not?
- Am I letting His voice be the preeminent one in shaping my living (see Psalm 119:9)?
- Am I living in light of the reality that I will stand before God at the end of my days with Him asking me, ‘what have you done with what I gave you?’ (see Ecclesiastes 11:9 and 2 Corinthians 5:10)?
How about you? Are you remembering your Creator in the days of your youth?
