Alan Hirsch in Christianity Today

Alan Hirsch, who I was able to spend time around at Exponential 08, was recently interviewed by Christianity Today. You can read the article online here.

This ties in with the ongoing discussion of small group ministry, discipleship, and more. Key questions that I have are:

  • how can a church birthed from an attractional model move toward the missional/incarnational model of ministry?
  • what does the American church need to do to move away from fostering a sense of dependency through consumer Christianity?
  • what does it mean for us to not only see small groups as important in the life of a church, but as the life of the church on mission?
  • how does discipleship happen best in the church?
  • what can we do to program or organize incarnational and missional discipleship in American churches?

There’s a lot of good thinking here, which is Hirsch’s strength.

Well worth the read.
