I love hearing about what God is doing in people’s lives. It is an amazing privilege. Every day, God is at work in our world and, more personally, in our lives. He is waiting to talk with us. He is waiting to lead us into aspects of life that we never could have imagined.
A number of people have joined me in reading through the Bible in a year together in 2011. Every week, I will simply be leaving a small post where you all can leave responses of how God has been speaking to you through reading the Scriptures each day. This gives us the unique opportunity to keep a record together of how God speaks through the year to all of us.
So, how has God been speaking to you this week?

Hello Matt! Thanks for the continued encouragement. The past few weeks, I’ve really been struck by how deadly serious God is about sin. The refrain “purge the evil” throughout Deuteronomy keeps echoing in my head. God made it VERY clear to the Israelites (and us) the blessings that come with obedience and the dire consequences that come with disobedience. It’s truly a matter of life and death.
That stuck out to me, too, Mark. God does think sin is a big deal. I find it challenging how evil must be ‘devoted’ to the Lord in the sense of destroyed. God cannot stand the evil. I wonder if I feel the same way about it or not sometimes.
I was also struck by the blessings and curses in Deuteronomy 27 & 28. Very serious matters.
