In August, Pat Robertson spoke some ill-advised words about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his links to terrorism. I made some comments about those words at the time. That set the ball rolling for difficulties for missionaries in Venezuela, including some friends of mine.
As the ball has continued to roll, the Venezuelan government is now expelling all New Tribes missionaries from the country. While this has not been fully implemented, it looks grim for folks who are ministering to tribal peoples in that country.
This is an unfortunate example of the power of our foolish words to cause great difficulty in the lives of others.
Please pray for the New Tribes folks in Venezuela.
