Contentment: some sermon resources

I’m preparing my sermon for this weekend at Brooklife, and came upon a host of wonderful quotations that impacted me. Here are a couple that I thought I’d pass along:

And another:

Materialism is a preoccupation with material things, until they smother our spiritual life. We need to hear again the words of Jesus ‘Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth’ (Matthew 6:19). Again, ‘Beware of covetousness, a human life does not consist in the abundance of our possessions’ (Luke 12:15). That is, there is more to life than money and property. – John Stott
