I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me. (John 10:14, NIV)
Jesus, You are the good shepherd of the sheep. Thank You that You lead us and speak to us. Thank You that Your voice speaks our names, and that You allow us to know You.
I long to hear Your voice more and more clearly each day. Today, help me to hear You amidst the clamor of voices and sounds around me. Open my ears so that I might more clearly discern what You are saying, and then follow You.
And give me strength, Lord, to truly follow. At times the push and pull of dreams and longings wash over me and pull me off Your pathway. When that happens, Jesus, please correct me and set me back on the path. Help me to work with You and not against You.
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21, NIV)
