This past weekend at Eastbrook, we began a new preaching series entitled “The Pursuit of God: The Life of David.” This weekend I began the series with a message entitled “The Pursuit of God, ” which was my attempt to set up the series and also preach from 1 Samuel 16 about David’s anointing.
You can find the message outline and video below. You can access the entire series here. Join us for weekend worship in-person or remotely via Eastbrook at Home.

Dig Deeper
This week dig deeper in one or more of the following ways:
- Memorize 1 Samuel 16:7 or Philippians 3:14-16.
- Take some time to meditate on 1 Samuel 16:1-13 this week. Perhaps you might want to draw, paint, letter, or sketch aspects of these verses to help you. Write your own prayer back to God as part of your reflection. Share this with a friend.

- Bible Project video: “David the Priestly King”
- American Bible Society, “Key Events in David’s Life”
