Multiplying (Study Questions)

Here are the discussion questions that accompany my message from this past weekend at Eastbrook Church entitled “Multiplying.”

Discussion Questions:

1. How did you come to be a follower of Jesus? Tell your story? Who were the people who most influenced you to follow Jesus and how did they do that?

2. This final week in our series, “Living Church,” we are exploring the concept of multiplication in the church. This first part of this week’s topic must focus on becoming disciples, or followers, of Jesus ourselves. What does Scripture say becoming a disciple Christ means?

3. Based on this, where would you describe yourself as a disciple of Jesus?

4. Jesus’ call to His disciples was for something beyond themselves. Read the following three passages and consider what Jesus is asking His followers to do?

  • Matthew 28:18-20
  • Luke 24:45-49
  • Acts 1:7-8

5. Read through these passages about how the church expanded throughout Acts and Read More »

Multiplying

This past weekend at Eastbrook Church, we continued our series “Living Church” by looking at the way in which the the early church grew from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. In a sense, my message, entitled “Multiplying,” was an exploration of the expanding discipleship mission of the church.

You can listen to my message online at the Eastbrook web-site here. You can also subscribe to the Eastbrook podcast here or follow Eastbrook Church on Twitter.

4 Resources on Generosity in our Faith

As I prepared my message this past week entitled “Generous,” I utilized a number of resources alongside of the Bible that I found helpful in shaping my thoughts. Here are four that I thought were worth sharing.

Generous Justice by Tim Keller – a great take on what it means to be the people of God in word and deed by a committed evangelical.

The Rise of Christianity by Rodney Stark – a sociological take on what contributed to the rise of Christianity with particular attention to the role of mercy ministries.

Freedom of Simplicity by Richard Foster – one of Foster’s lesser known works that speaks powerfully to the role of simplicity and the grace of giving in the Christian life.

The latest issue of Christian History magazine on hospitals and healthcare.

Maybe you have your own resources alongside the Bible that you’d like to share. I’d love to hear about them.
