Here are some wise words from Donald Miller, author of Blue Like Jazz, about the church’s interest in making Jesus cool.
We don’t need to be God’s marketing machine. If somebody passes from this life thinking Jesus was cool,’ that’s not very helpful. They need to know that Jesus was the Son of God who died to forgive them of their sins, and enter into a relationship with him. The church has bought into this idea that if we make Jesus look cool, we win. But they’re really trying to make ourselves look cool, not Jesus. We certainly need to repent of that.
This reminds me of some earlier thoughts I had shared about marketing Jesus. You can read them here.
