When you hear the word ‘glory’ what do you think of?

What is the most glorious thing you can think of?

  1. When I think of “glory”, I think of the surpassing greatness of something.

As Ben said, a sunrise can be a glorious thing, when it is painted with hues of indescribable pinks and oranges and reds – the beauty is exceedingly great!

So it is with Jesus – His glory is seen by his exceeding greatness, His superiority above all other things. And He shows us that greatness, that glory in His love, in the wonders of His works, in the mercy He extends to us and calls us to extend to others. And we display that glory when we value Him above all else, above all the treasures of this world, above recognition and fame.

If I had to define the term glory, the answer would be Jesus!

  2. when I hear the word glory I think of God getting due praise. (that’s not theologically accurate necessarily but it’s where I experientially go in my mind) The most glorious scene (where I mentally go) is a Revelation type of worship scene …where the slain lamb is getting His due honor, praise, and shown He is glorious by everyone singing holy holy holy in their own tongue. Parallel a Isa. 6 scene shaking the temple to the max with humans joining in. Quite stirring to blow the lid off the box of glory. I can’t handle it in this body.

  3. Glory is what God will be showing – His miraculous power and might – as He orchestrates my husband’s work situation. It will be so awesome that only he can take the credit – no one works like Him!

  4. Glory can be found in anything God has made, or anything He is doing. It may be easier for me to see God’s glory in one thing than another; for instance, a body of worshipers might be more apparently “glorious” than a tree. But even with a tree, it is so easy to see God’s glory manifested in that, with the knowledge that He fashioned every living cell in that tree for a specific purpose. However, it is not the body of worshipers or the tree in themselves that is inherently glorious, it is the fact that God has manifested His glory through these things that makes them so wonderful.

The most glorious thing that I could attempt to think of would be the day that Jesus comes again, and all of the believers from all times and all places join together to praise Him. The complete, unveiled glory of God will shine on all of us together, and there will be no more darkness- only what is light and good shall remain. I don’t think there will be anything more glorious than that! But the most glorious thing I have seen on earth was probably when I got up to see the sunrise and pray with a group of my friends at the High School retreat this November. It was absolutely beautiful!
