What About a Fresh Start?

This weekend at Eastbrook Church, I concluded our “Resolved” series with a message entitled “What About a Fresh Start?”

While I had a bit of a sore throat, I rasped out the message, which was rooted in Matthew 9:1-8.

Jesus Has Authority (Matthew 9:6; 7:28-29)

• “But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority…” (Matthew 9:6a)
• “He taught as One who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law” (Matthew 7:29)

Jesus Forgives (Matthew 9:1-2)

• Coming for one thing and receiving another
• Sin is a big deal
• The power of forgiveness

An Aside on Being Religious (Matthew 9:3-6)

• Knowledge without understanding
• Judging without self-knowledge

Jesus Heals (Matthew 9:6-8)

• Healing and self-knowledge
• Healing and recovery
• Healing and the next day
