I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
As the eyes of a servant look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he shows us mercy. (Psalm 123:1-2)
Lord my God, my King and Leader,
I turn my eyes to You.
When so many other people and things call out for my attention
(their call is endless),
and so many situations call for resolution
(each one quickly replaced by another),
I turn my focused attention to You.
Lord, please draw me into Your peaceful presence,
speak Your words of wisdom,
and mercifully mold me in Your ways.
For my aim is that You might receive the greatest glory
from me as a faithful servant.
Through Jesus Christ, our servant King, Amen.
