Sunday Prayer 31

Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:8)

Almighty God,
who made all that exists by Your powerful word
and who sustains all that is through Your abiding presence,
please also sustain me this day through Your abiding presence
and create a good work in my life by Your powerful word.

What help or helper could compare with You,
even though we know good people in our lives
and useful resources within our reach?

What better help than You, the Almighty,
Creator, Sustainer, Remaker,
Redeemer, Reconciler, and Savior?

You are my help.
In Christ Jesus it is eternally true
and I reach out to You through
the sure gift of faith today.
