Sunday Prayer 38

You are holy, holy, holy, Lord,
the God of strength and righteousness.
Isaiah the prophet fell down before You,
undone by his sin in Your presence.
So, too, we fall before You in humbled awe,
taking Simon Peter’s words into our mouths:
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful.”

Sodom and Gomorrah fell down before You,
unmade by their in in Your presence.
No one can stand before You of their own accord,
not even with a righteous bargainer interceding,
Apart from the reckoning of righteousness by faith,
we trip, stumble, and fall in Your presence.

Thank You, Jesus, for being both holy, holy, holy,
and our righteous bargainer, eternally
interceding for us before the Father.
So, again, we fall down before You
in humble awe and amazed gratitude
for the unearned favor and undeserved gift
given through You.

[This is part of a series of prayers for Sunday worship preparation that begins here.]
