In our current series at Eastbrook Church, “Who Am I?“, we are exploring biblical answers to questions about our identity as human beings. This past weekend I concluded the series by looking at how the Holy Spirit anchors our identity in God, connects us to a broader family, and sends us out with a new sense of mission.

New Presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-17; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 6:19)
- God coming close as a personal presence in us
- Drawing near like a seal upon the completed work

- Living in us like God dwelling in the Temple

- The place of total belonging
- The security of new family and attachment to Father God through the bond of love
New Character from the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:19-25)
- The fruit of God’s presence vs. the acts of the flesh
- Taking the invitation of the Holy Spirit into the divine dance
New Abilities in the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Romans 12:4-8)
- Grace gifts that are given as the Holy Spirit desires
- Grace gifts that are given for the common good of the body of Christ
New Calling by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:7-8; 2:1-4)
- Moving beyond the cul-de-sace of spiritual experience
- Moving forward into the mission of God
