“The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'” (Luke 1:35)
The Holy Spirit hovering over
the wombs of two unknown women. Unknown
to the world’s fame yet to God truly known.
Known beyond the closeness of a lover,
yet cherished and holy beyond any
human love. Inside each, a sacred child
gestates, held safe amongst the earthly wilds
to break forth with God’s wild love for many.
These wholly open women’s wombs now bring
the holy open arms of divine love
in eyes, ears, feet, and carpenter’s hands rough
from work with wood. A strong voice whose truth sings.
The Holy Spirit hovers electric
as He speaks of God to the lost and sick.
