“When Trouble Comes” – a message from James 1

This past weekend at Eastbrook, I gave the first message in our preaching series entitled “Authentic Faith: Growing with the Apostle James.” My message was entitled “When Trouble Comes,” and drew upon James 1:1-18. This is a beautiful and penetrating passage with many well-known words, but perhaps most famous within this passage is this statement:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)

You can find the message outline and video below. You can access the entire series here. Join us for weekend worship in-person or remotely via Eastbrook at Home.
