This weekend at Eastbrook Church, we continued our series entitled “Love Letters,” where we are walking through the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John. My message this weekend was entitled, “Love That Overcomes,” and drew from 1 John 2:12-17.

Three Categories of People (1 John 2:12-14)

• Children – immature: freshly forgiven and know it
• Fathers – mature: know God into maturity
• Young men – maturing: growing as overcomers

The World and Its Desires (1 John 2:15-16)

• The Lust of the Flesh – the desires that are within us
• The Lust of the Eyes – the desires that come from outside us
• The Pride of Life – boasting in what we have and do

Love for God (1 John 2:17)

• Undiluted
• Enduring
