Mike Breen of 3DM opened up our main sessions on the topic of moving from assimilating to creating community. Mike has been on the forefront of work with missional communities in the UK and here in the States. I was disappointed that he wasn’t given more time, but what follows are the few notes that I took from his message:
What are the skills that Jesus exercised in discipleship that we can acquire ourselves
The Ministry of Jesus is framed with two skills:
– Come – invitation
– Go – challenge

Jesus made disciples and got the church; so often we try to make the church and get disciples.
