Made for It

Made For It-Web

This weekend at Eastbrook Church we begin a new sermon series entitled “Made for It” that focuses on relationships.

God is a relational God. Because we are created in His image, we are relational people. We were made for relationship, first with God and then with others. Our lives are primarily made up of relationships: with friends, with spouses, with parents, with children, with co-workers, and more. How do we honor God in our relationships?

February 1/2 – “Friendship” – We long for relationship because God is a relational God. He has made us that way, stamping His own image upon us. Given that is the case, what does it mean to be friends from a biblical perspective?
Texts: Genesis 1-3; Proverbs 17:17; 18:24; 22:24-25; 25:17, 20; 26:18-19; 27:5, 6, 9-10, 14, 17; 28:23; 29:5

February 8/9 – “Love and Dating” – What does the Bible really have to say about love and dating? Can we date? How should we date? Are we always looking for marriage?
Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13; Matthew 12:46-50

February 15/16 – “Marriage” – What does biblical marriage really look like? There is so much that could be said, but what are the essential aspects of marriage? How do we relate to one another? Where does happiness fit in with commitment? How should we deal with conflict in marriage? What about divorce?
Text: Genesis 1:27-30; 2: 4-25; Ruth; Matthew 5:27-32; Ephesians 5:21-33; Colossians 3:12-19; Matthew 19:1-12

February 22/23 – “Working through Conflict in Relationships”  – There are times where all of us deal with conflict in our relationships. How might we best honor God in our relationships at these times? What do we do when someone is driving us crazy? How should we respond when someone is goading us into the wrong response? How do we deal with conflict?
Text: Ephesians 5:21; Matthew 18:15-20; Romans 12:18; Hebrews 12:14
