Sunday Prayer 23

The LORD reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment.
He rules the world in righteousness
and judges the peoples with equity.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:7-10)

King forever, You reign
in justice, righteousness, and equity.

In this world we wrestle
with injustice, wrong, and inequity.

So we run to You for refuge in troubled times,
seeking the light of Your presence in dark days.

If we trusted in ourselves, we would falter;
if we trusted in our possessions, we would fade;
if we trusted in people’s power,we would lose all hope.

So we trust in You, the forever King,
who will never falter, fade, or forsake those
who come to You.

[This is part of a series of prayers for Sunday worship preparation that begins here.]
