I watch, LORD, as the sun rises,
sending brilliance over all the earth.
I watch, Lord, for You, my present God
who holds both me and all the earth in Your powerful hands.
I watch for You that I might not be overcome
by the quaking world, others’ voices, or my own unsteady self.

I watch for Your unfailing love that meets me each morning,
peaking over the horizon in brilliant hues:
red, like Your blood that washes me clean;
pink, like Your hope of joy in the morning;
gold, like Your radiance as King over all.
I watch, Lord, for You as the sun rises
pouring brilliance over all my life.
