Stories of the Kingdom: Parables of Jesus – a new series at Eastbrook

This coming Sunday at Eastbrook Church we begin a five-week preaching series entitled “Stories of the Kingdom: Parables of Jesus.” This continues our journey through the Gospel of Matthew, focusing on chapter 13. This is the fifth part of our longer series on Matthew, which includes “Family Tree,” “Power in Preparation,” “Becoming Real,” and “The Messiah’s Mission.”

Jesus often used parables – a specific type of story – to explain the nature of God’s kingdom. We will look at why Jesus taught with parables and then explore specific parables for life.

Join us each weekend of this series in-person or via Eastbrook at Home.

Here are the weekly topics for the series:

August 8 – “Why Parables” – Matthew 13:1-3a, 10-17

August 15 [Eastbrook Outdoors] – “The Sower” – Matthew 13:3-8, 13-23

August 22 – “The Weeds” – Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

August 29 – “The Mustard Seed and the Yeast” – Matthew 13:31-33

September 5 – “The Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net” – Matthew 13:44-50
