Son of God [Name Above All Names]

NAAN-Series-GFX_App-Wide.pngAs we continued our series, “Name Above All Names,” this past weekend at Eastbrook Church, I looked at one of Jesus’ most revered titles: Son of God.  With roots in the promises to Abraham and David, Jesus’ identity as the Son of God stretches all the way before Creation and speaks of His unique relationship with God the Father and way of living upon earth.

You can view the message video and sermon outline below. You can follow the entire series at our web-site, through the Eastbrook app, or through our audio podcast.

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Matthew 11:27)

Three Identity Markers of Jesus as the Son of God:

  1. Jesus is the Promised Seed and Son of Abraham (Genesis 12:7; Galatians 3:16)

  1. Jesus is the Complete King and Son of David (2 Samuel 7:12-14; Romans 1:1-4)

  1. Jesus is the unique, one-of-a-kind Son of God (John 1:18; 3:16; Hebrews 1:1-3)

Four Aspects of Jesus’ Way as the Son of God:

  1. Jesus knows the Father intimately (Matthew 11:27; 6:45-46, 57)

  1. Jesus obeys the Father fully (John 4:34; 6:38; Mark 14:32-36)

  1. Jesus saves the cosmos wholly (Luke 1:68-69; Colossians 1:13-14)

  1. Jesus reigns with resurrection glory forever (Matthew 28:18-19; Philippians 2:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:23-26)
